Wordpress Theme Review: Made of Cheese

Posted by Ryan

Made of Cheese feels like a Valentine’s Day theme. Oh, and does anyone know why it’s called Made of Cheese?

Validation 3/5

The only issue is in the XHTML. There are seven errors that popped up during validation. The problem, not surprisingly, is the declaration of a Strict DOCTYPE instead of a Transitional DOCTYPE. This is too bad, since a lot of validation issues can be taken care of on Wordpress if a Transitional DOCTYPE is used. −2

Look & Feel 5/5

This is a very classic design. I love the simplicity, and the use of the quiet, slightly pastel colors. There is definite unity throughout.

Theme Completeness 3/5

The 404 page and the search results page are both very poorly designed and maintained. It makes me think they were somewhat…forgotten about in the creation of the theme. −1

There was also no search bar anywhere on the page. Sad days…−1

Ooh, something worth mentioning: this theme includes a Favicon. This is actually a big deal; I haven’t had a chance to try this out even though I love the idea.

Editablity 5/5

No complaints. I love having no complaints. Everything is pretty much the way it should be.

I can imagine many good uses of this very quiet, somewhat tame theme. If anyone out there uses it for anything in particular, let me know? I’m curious.

That is all.
